It’s safe to say that Gorillaz have taken 2017 by storm. After a long break they’ve exploded back on the scene, releasing their first single in six years followed by a spree of additional releases, announcing a new festival, releasing a collab with Pusha T and much, much more.
In addition to one of the most exciting album rollouts we’ve ever seen, the Gorillaz announced in an interview with Q Magazine that a 10-episode animated TV series is also in the works. Jamie Hewlett, the comic book artist and visual mastermind behind the Gorillaz, is working on the project. Although an exact release date was not announced, we do know that the project exists and will explore more about the virtual band.
This announcement comes just a few weeks before Humanz, the first album released by the group in nearly seven years, which is set to drop on April 28. Between the album, the TV-series, audio-visual experiences and more, 2017 is set to be a standout year for the Gorillaz.
