Volume six of Mau5trap's We Are Friends compilation has arrived and it's a big one. Right off the bat we are greeted by two new deadmau5 originals, "Polaris" and "bad at titles", the latter of which is a collaboration with ATTLAS. There has been great anticipation regarding the release of both tracks so we're glad to see these two gems see the light of day.
"Polaris" is a beautiful song from beginning to end, showcasing Joel Zimmerman's knack for chilling melodies that gradually build and evolve over a song's duration. He introduces these lush, uplifting chords around the 1:30 mark and intertwines them with these gritty electro synths. While there's great contrast at first, Zimmerman smoothly blends the two together for an energetic progressive sequence.
His collaboration with ATTLAS, on the other hand, embraces a darker, techno-based sound that incorporates low-end, rumbling percussion for the majority of the song while while carrying a cinematic, space-like vibe that builds throughout.
Mau5trap's sixth edition of We Are Friends is comprised of 21 tracks and features some talented up-and-comers like No Mana, Black Gummy, Neus and many others. You'll also hear a brand new remix of deadmau5's single "Let Go" feat. Grabbitz at the very end of the minimix by NemesiZ. You can stream deadmau5's new tracks "Polaris" and "bad at titles" with ATTLAS, in addition to the whole compilation, below. Enjoy!
