24-year-old artist Jack Casey has impressed us in the past with his refreshing remixes and originals as he’s taken on tracks such as The 1975’s "Settle Down" and Ellie Goulding’s "How Long Will I Love You". He’s back again with another laid-back remix of Bring Me The Horizon’s "Drown" and it’s sounding great.
"I wanted to revisit my old music-making roots, and sample some of my favorite tracks. I decided to go with 'Drown', a really special track by Bring Me The Horizon. My intention was to build my own sound around some of the hooks in the original. Really pleased with how it turned out. Rather than this being a remix or an edit, I like to think of this as a homage to the original. I've actually sampled 3 different versions of the track. You can hear parts of the original, an acoustic version, and a cover I discovered." - EMBRZ
The Dublin-born artist is a self-taught musician who is preparing for the release of his debut EP due in the next few months with its lead single "Heartlines" coming this spring. Casey took an interesting approach to this new track as he tells us he sampled different versions of the same song to capture a unique sound. He builds a dreamy sound design and bright chord progressions around the sampled elements making this version completely his own and different from the original while utilizing parts of the original track. The rumbling bassline adds a nice backbone to the colorful instrumentation, giving it a dance-driven edge. Enjoy!
