Just yesterday, Diplo and Mark Ronson surprised us with the debut single of their brand new collaborative project, Silk City. Diplo had previously stated that this project will be focusing on a disco sound, and after listening to “Only Can Get Better,” we think that they nailed it.
Today, the two Grammy award winning producers have delivered an hour long “Essential Mix” that was posted to Diplo’s SoundCloud. It seems like this new mix aims to lay the groundwork for their new disco vibe. Not only do we have a handful of different edits by Silk City (which are being called “Silk City Specials”), but a bunch of uplifting, jackin’ tunes by artists like Cajmere, Missy Elliot, Masters At Work, and Tchami.
This is the first time we’ve heard Diplo seriously dive into the genre of house, and with the unyielding talents of Mark Ronson, who knows where they’ll go. Either way, we can’t wait to hear more from the new duo. Enjoy!
