20-year-old singer Lorde quickly rose to fame back in 2013 following her hit single “Royals” and her incredibly successful, impressive debut album Pure Heroine. She built on this momentum getting a Flume remix and collaborating with Disclosure as she won over music fans around the world. Now after years of not releasing music, the talented singer has finally shared her first new single “Green Light” and announced her new album will be titled Melodrama, see artwork below.
it's the first chapter of a story i'm gonna tell you, the story of the last 2 wild, fluorescent years of my life. this is where we begin

i am so proud of this song. it's very different, and kinda unexpected. it's complex and funny and sad and joyous and it'll make you DANCE

“Green Light” takes a much more dance-driven direction than her previous releases and it's sounding like a natural progression for Lorde. The track builds in energy leading up to the chorus, which packs a bouncing piano chord melody and very catchy vocals.
Lorde joined Zane Lowe to premiere the track on Beats 1 and did an interview to speak about what she's been up to since we last heard from her. Lorde revealed she's been working on her project closely alongside Jack Antonoff, who's worked with bands like Bleachers and Fun. She also said she was actually credited as a producer on every song off her forthcoming album. Enjoy!

"Green Light" had an interesting rollout as Lorde had been teasing the song in short TV commercials as well as recently tweeting fans locations in New Zealand to hear part of the song as part of a scavenger hunt. At these locations including a beach, fans also found an appropriate green light theme where there were green smoked-filled parked cars and lit up messages of lyrics from the song. Lorde is also set to perform on SNL March 11 as well as upcoming festival performances including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Governor's Ball. Enjoy!
